Eagles Make Third Trade of the Day, Send Darian Kinnard to Packers After Reacquiring Fred Johnson from Jaguars
The Philadelphia Eagles continue to stay active on the trade market, making multiple roster moves on Sunday that included both a reunion and a parting of ways.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the reigning Super Bowl champions reacquired offensive lineman Fred Johnson from the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for a 2026 seventh-round pick. Just an hour later, Philadelphia dealt offensive lineman Darian Kinnard to the Green Bay Packers for a sixth-round selection.

Fred Johnson Returns to Philadelphia
For Johnson, 28, the move marks a return to familiar territory. He previously spent part of the 2022 season and then all of 2023 and 2024 with the Eagles, making six starts last season. Johnson began his career as an undrafted free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2019, though he never appeared in a game for them. He later spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals (2019-21) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2022) before landing in Philadelphia.
Johnson signed a one-year deal with Jacksonville earlier this year but will now return to a role he knows well. A versatile lineman, he played most of his 2024 snaps at left tackle, but he has also logged significant time at right tackle and right guard, while contributing on special teams.
With Pro Bowl guard Landon Dickerson nursing a meniscus injury and the Eagles working in Tyler Steen at right guard, Johnson’s presence provides both insurance and flexibility. In past seasons, he served primarily as the team’s swing tackle behind veterans Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata.
Darian Kinnard Heads to Green Bay
Meanwhile, Philadelphia decided to move on from 25-year-old Darian Kinnard. Drafted in the fifth round by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022, Kinnard appeared in just one game for Kansas City before spending 2023 on the practice squad. He joined the Eagles in early 2024 and saw limited action, including a start in Week 18 against the New York Giants.
Though still early in his career, Kinnard brings experience from winning three Super Bowls—two with the Chiefs and one with the Eagles. Primarily a right tackle, he will now get a fresh opportunity in Green Bay, where the Packers have developed a reputation for grooming young offensive linemen.
Howie Roseman Keeps Working the Phones
These deals mark the third and fourth trades of the day for general manager Howie Roseman and the fourth and fifth in the last three weeks. Earlier Sunday, Philadelphia acquired quarterback Sam Howell from the Minnesota Vikings to bolster depth behind Jalen Hurts. Earlier in the month, the team also added wide receiver John Metchie III from the Houston Texans (Aug. 17) and cornerback Jakorian Bennett from the Las Vegas Raiders (Aug. 4).
For the Eagles, the flurry of moves reflects a continued focus on roster depth and flexibility as the team gears up to defend its championship this fall.
